Spend each day listening more instead of talking more
Listen actively and respond to what the person is saying instead of thinking about what you are going to say about yourself. Speak less about yourself and ask more about others
Give out compliments every day to most people you interact with (authentic compliments, not insincere)
Do not say anything negative about your life, about anyone else or anything that happens
Change the dial in your head away from the inner critic channel. As soon as a negative thought comes into your head about your past, present, future or yourself, redirect your focus to the present day
Start your day and end your day thinking of or writing down 3 things to be thankful for no matter how small or simple
Actively choose to focus on the good things that happen in your day instead of the frustrating, hurtful or stressful things. Give yourself a time limit to vent limited to 5 minutes, then move on
Block out 30 minutes for fitness whether it be dancing at home, a walk, stretching, or light weights. Make movement non negotiable, and have it scheduled in your life no different than you would a job interview or doctors appointment that you can’t miss.
Track how you are spending your free time- scrolling on your phone, shopping, social media, drinking, po*rn, watching sports. If you find yourself doing things based on consumption, distraction, and it is doing nothing to help you reach your goals, eliminate it for a month.
Find joy in the daily things and take note of the small stuff- a delicious meal, a beautiful sky, your kids laughter, the snuggle of a pet, a good story you are reading, a song you love playing…
Notice nature and get outside 15 minutes a day no matter what is going on- see the flowers, sky, trees, take a walk in the rain, look at the moon, and take note we are beings on a floating rock in a massive universe
Spend an hour once a week on an activity or hobby you love. Perhaps the household chores get put on hold, but after doing something fulfilling, you will have more energy to do all the other regular chores. Adults can get so busy with the grind that we lose our sense of self; the best way to restore it is with a favorite activity
Write down how you would describe yourself…does it match who you would like to be? Write a list of who you would like to be, and decide to take steps to be the person who want to be
Write down your goals for your life both professional, financial, emotional, mental, social, physical. Write out your yearly goals and monthly goals with steps to reach your life goals. Put the list up where you will see it every day
Remember Every day is a new opportunity to make different choices
