My favorite things include breakfast foods and meals with tons of protein! Behold Protein Pancake Mixes offer the best of both worlds! I get to indulge my pancake carb loving self while also getting the protein I need to avoid a crazy sugar crash. My son and I tried 3 Protein Pancake Mixes and found our favorite we would like to share with you!

3- Krusteaz– Protein Pancake Mix- Blueberry. I love anything blueberry, but this one required adding my own blueberries to have any real noticeable blueberry flavor. I loved a more affordable option for a healthier version of pancakes, but it wasn’t enough of a savings to win me over. Unlike many of their other products, this one advertised has no artificial flavors and colors. The pancakes came out fine, but on the thin and flat side. I am a fan of the added protein in my pancakes, but I prefer the other brands. 14 grams of protein per serving (check label for serving size)

2- Trader Joes– Buttermilk Protein. Unlike Krusteaz brand, these pancakes were thick and hearty. My son was full eating one pancake topped with fruit. This pancake being plain, requires lots of butter and fruit in my household. We have been trying substituting sugary syrup with either a touch of jam or low sugar fruit syrup, paired with a spoonful of plant based “cool whip”. 10 Grams of Protein per serving (check label for serving size).

1- Kodiak Cakes– Power Cakes- Chocolate Chip. My winner, Kodiak Cakes! These pancakes have the best taste and texture combination paired with the healthiest ingredients. I love all the variety in flavors they offer, but my favorite is the chocolate chip. We like to throw bananas in the batter, then top with fresh fruit and whipped cream. The pancakes are so filling you will have an energy boost for the whole day. You can find the brand at most major grocery stores. This boasts 14 grams of protein per serving, and more if you add in an egg or use milk to mix. I prefer to use almond milk over water. (check label for serving size)
