I became a mom summer of 2012 and my life was forever changed. A blur of diaper changing, feedings, breast pumping, rocking and sleepless nights became my new norm. I was fully prepared to be a diaper changing machine until the introduction of the next stage- potty training (another story in itself). What I was NOT prepared for is all the time I would then spend on bathroom cleaning, specifically, the toilet area. Pee on the seat sure, pee all over the toilet sure, pee in crevices you didn’t think possible, yep, pee on the walls, you know it, and a pee stained toilet from flushing failures, check.
Who knew how quickly a toilet could become stained with yellow brown ring inside it from a week of forgetful flushing. Yes, you can try to remember to go in and flush it yourself…. or if you are like me, have a to do list of 20 items written down, plus 20 more to do’s in my head putting toilet flushing monitoring wayyyyy far in the back of my mind. I have encouraged and supported my son to be independent, and that meant me not hovering around him (and his bathroom independence). I guess flushing was one step too much after I was hammering my son to just please for the love of god focus on aiming in the toilet, not on, around or paint the walls.
For the moms that have cleaning services or can find the time to scrub their toilets all the time, well bless you, but that mom is not me. It is enough for me to be working a full time corporate job, author and coaching side job, single parent, do the meal planning, cooking, dishes, laundry, handle school, basic pick up around our home, etc. It is for the time crunched or maybe just tired modern woman who needs quick and easy solutions. After seeing this undesired tan stain in the toilets keep appearing when I needed to sell my home, I knew I needed to find solution. The regular cleaning products were not effective.
My favorite find came in the simple solution of this magical cleaning item- the pumice stone scrubber for toilets. Who would’ve thought I would be getting excited about cleaning tools, but here I am a modern mom who loves making parenting mom life easier. This stone scrubber can be found at Home Depot, Lowe’s and Amazon. I used this bad boy and boom, my toilets looked new again, just in time for my home to be put on the market.
