I Tried This at Trader Joe’s This Month
I love trying new foods, especially new snack items and pumpkin flavored foods when fall comes around. Trader Joe’s loves pumpkin foods and healthy snacks as well. I tried these items below at Trader Joe’s this October, and here is how it went-
1- Trader Joe’s Pumpkin O’s cereal- They did not have an overwhelmingly strong pumpkin flavor taste. It was like a hint of pumpkin cereal without the strong spice that can often come with pumpkin items, which would normally be great. The texture was light and crispy. That being said, sadly, I was left disappointed at the blandness and had zero desire to eat them. My son, on the other hand, thought they were great and took bags of them to school as a snack.

I was most excited about making these pumpkin oatmeal chocolate chips cookies. What could be wrong about 3 of my favorite food items…The cookies were easy to make and better than buying cookies off the shelf with lots of preservatives. They were great for a mom and kid activity together. Once done, my mouth was watering and ready to dig in. The first bite I was confused- I could not taste much of the chocolate, I could not taste much of the oatmeal. I could not taste the type of pumpkin pie taste that is so delicious. Instead, I tasted too many spices that did not come close to the joy I normally experience eating a pumpkin dessert. If you want an average cookie with spicy flavoring, then you might enjoy it. Frankly, I would have been better off making chocolate chip cookies or oatmeal cookies. My son ate half of one before calling it quits.

A new snack bar for me to try out, yay! I am always on the lookout for new on the go snacks since I spent so much time on the move in my car. The challenge is many of the regular snack bars are filled with tons of sugar and/or preservatives, and tons of ingredients no one recognizes. The light ones often sneak in fake sugars which lead to cancer and cause migraines. “Healthy” ones with natural ingredients still often include tons of sugar, fat and very little protein. I gave the fiber bars at Trader Joe’s a shot after looking at the low sugar level of 6g, low calorie, no artificial sweeteners, higher protein and high fiber listed in the nutrition facts. Unlike my pumpkin options here, these were tasty with great texture and flavor. Don’t miss these on your next visit.
