One result of Covid life for the past 2 years, was time to watch the Downtown Abbey series. I dismissed it for years as I felt like it would be stiff, dull and boring focusing on the lives of the wealthy with no crime twists or action. However, I will never hesitate to admit when I am wrong or made a mistake, and in this case, I was certainly mistaken.
Downtown Abbey was well written with a cast of rich stories, well woven with a cast of colorful characters well acted by group of talented actors. The set and costumes were beautiful to behold. The best part of the show was it transported you back into a time free from tech. I found it a relaxing escape from modern life. One of my coping methods during my custody battle and later during Covid life, was to reduce stress by shutting off my overactive brain with well written shows- Downtown Abbey was a show that accomplished this feat (relaxing a stressed out brain).
When I learned there was a traveling exhibit, I was excited to check it out. The exhibit includes large images of the cast, historical data to read and listen to, an area for costumes on display, video areas and was set set up much like a museum. It would have been great to see more costumes and more interactive activities. It also would have been great to have real life characters acting life scenes out in the displays and answering historical questions- something to bring it to life.
